What I hope to achieve with this laborious exercise:
- so that HIGHLIGHT/ BEAST fans get to enjoy this live concert version with Dujun \u0026 Gikwang's beautiful vocals.
- show the difference between LITERAL versus CONTEXTUAL lyrics translation (from Japanese to Chinese/ English), which are still a few steps before (my specialty) SONG ADAPTATION.
- it's about time this underexposed beauty of a song get some love, and a romaji lyrics video
- not all songs will sound good in a new language, but this one will sound good in English (demo Shorts on the way)

I've adapted More Than You Think to English a week before Highlight INTRO Japan (making a Shorts demo of the chorus), I was pleasantly surprised it's on their setlist. After hearing Dujun and Gikwang's new parts, I thought, would be nice to have a near-CD quality version with their vocals mixed in? Highlight fans would enjoy it too?
Took me many hours to "iron out" harsh AI vocal stems, because they are extracted from fan concert handphone recordings.
To achieve smoother transitions between high-echo feel of Dujun and Gikwang's low resolution live vocal "extracts", I mixed in Yoseob Dongwoon's 2015 Japan live choruses, but also because that was a near perfect performance, the emotional quality in particular. I hope you can hear/ feel it through the blend.
I may remix this again if and when I come across better quality 2022 INTRO concert fan cam uploads.

The song's frequently used Chinese song title 在你想像之上 is a classic example of LITERAL translation (from Japanese to Chinese), not an ideal title for this song, meaning wise or stylistically.
The 秋桜 (in Dujun's verse) is not what it seemed in Chinese ( 秋樱 autumn cherry blossom) but cosmos, an asteraceae 菊科 family of flowering plants native to Mexico, that has taken root in Japan. It blooms in summer autumn but sometimes survive winters.
Translating novels or screenplays between East Asians is challenging enough. Lyrics...
Lyrics contain too many poetic elements.
Technically speaking, lyrics can't be translated. Songs are always ADAPTED, at varying level of fidelity.
Songs adapted between Japanese Korean Chinese don't always work. Yet BEAST Highlight discography is an ENGLISH adaptation treasure chest. I wish they are aware of how unique they are in the scheme of things.
I sincerely hope Highlight BEAST classics (ORD, Fiction, Not The End) will get more loving adaptation treatment.

I'm a music/ show biz veteran who has coached native-Chinese-speaking professional actors for English language pop/ musical performances, and it is my philosophy that Korean/ Japanese/ Chinese songs adapted to English that are meant to be sung by original vocalists should be given a more stringent treatment than the average cover songs, not just for artistic reasons, but for stickiness factor, practical ease and commercial success.
