Hello, this is my cover of Mamamoo’s “Decalcomanie” because “Mamamoo is (finally) coming back for you” on November 3rd with #TRAVEL !!! Everybody scream!!!!
After a month, I finally posted a cover! While me being busy may have been a factor in this delay, this cover really did take me an entire month to make. The vocal complexity of this cover is literally no joke, in terms of range and also in terms of backup vocals.
Once I saw someone comment, “Decalcomanie is not just my favorite song, but it IS the best Mamamoo song. Facts only.” While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I wholeheartedly agree. This song is literally overflowing with backup harmonies, and I love how the song starts out sort of upbeat but more sensual and quiet, and the bold chorus just slaps you in the face. And just when you think the song can’t build up any more, Moonbyul’s rap comes out of nowhere like a wrecking ball! Gogobebe was the first Mamamoo song that I listened to, but Decalcomanie was really what got me into the radish field for good. As I mentioned in my other videos, Gfriend’s “Sunrise” is my favorite K-pop title track, but Decalcomanie is a very close second. In fact, I believe that Decalcomanie’s music complexity surpasses Sunrise, it’s just that the sentiment in Sunrise wins me over haha.
As I mentioned before, I am a very new Moomoo (started stanning December 2019), and I wish that I was there during Decalcomanie era out of all eras. Their comeback stage on M Countdown was absolute fire! The fanchants, the lighting, the vocals, the dance, the explosive stage presence, Mamamoo in suits walking on stage with Moderato in the background… it’s still my favorite all-time music show stage for all the groups I stan, and that says a lot, especially when this stage didn’t have an extremely fancy set like a lot of the other ones I’ve seen. Despite this cover being very time consuming, this was the most fun I have had with a cover in a while. It started out sounding horrible (well my rap is still not good in the final version but) but seeing the final product emerge at the end is so satisfying.
