MAMAMOO shattered all preconceptions surrounding girl groups. Girl groups were thought to be sexy or cute. Of course there were groups such as 2NE1 who were powerful ‘girl crushes’ but majority fit into the two categories.

He wanted to make a girl group that was different from other groups. First, he cast Hwasa and Whee In who had great vibes and singing abilities, and added Moonbyul and Solar to maximize group synergy.

Even before their debut, MAMAMOO had received spotlight as they participated as features for many artists’ songs and stages. Naturally, they were a monster rookie as they debut in 2014 with the title Mr. Ambiuous.

MAMAMOO’s strong point is that the four members can all perform, dance, rap, and sing. It goes as far as to say that MAMAMOO has four vocals, four rappers, and four dancers.

As all the members excel in all parts, the music spectrum for MAMAMOO is limitless. MAMAMOO’s increasing popularity is due to the fact that they are able to show their fans a new side of their music each time to come back.

They first stood out with a one-of-a-kind retro concept for their debut. With their second mini album ‘Pink Funky’ released in February 2016 and first full length album ‘Melting’, they evolved into a group with strong vocals and performance stills in addition to a vintage concept. Fans went wild as the group successfully conquered swing genre in ‘Piano Man’.

MAMAMOO is part of RBW, a relatively smaller label. As one of RBW’s frontman artists, they are been powering through without any rest and contributed in making RBW a household name in the entertainment industry. However, due to their restless schedule, MAMAMOO fans continue to express their worry in MAMAMOO members’ health. They went as far as to ask the label to spread out their schedule so that the members have time to rest. MAMAMOO will be able to successful long run if a right balance is achieved.

There are many routes that they can take, including solo artist, acting, entertaining, etc. With the addition of their solo activities, MAMAMOO has potential to grow.
