When the earth was still flat and the clouds made of fire
지구가 평평하고 구름조차 온통 불로 이루어져 있을 때

One that looked like two men glued data-on back to back

They looked like two girls rolled up in data-one

And the children of the moon was like a fork shoved data-on a spoon
그리고 달의 아이들은 꼭 포크가 숟가락 위에 얹힌 것처럼 생겼어

They were part sun part earth part daughter part son
그들은 태양의 조각, 대지의 조각, 딸과 아들의 조각으로 이루어져 있었지

아, 사랑의 기원이란

Well the gods grew quite scared of our strength and defiance
신들은 그들의 힘과 반항을 두려워하게 됐어

And thor said i'm gonna kill them all with my hammer
그리고 토르가 말했지, '내 망치로 저들을 죽이리라,

Like i killed the giants
내가 거인족을 처단했던 것처럼'

But zeus said no
하지만 제우스가 반대했지

You'd better let me use my lightning like scissors
'차라리 나의 번개로 저들을 잘라내게 해 주오,

Like i cut the legs off the whales
내가 고래의 다리를 잘랐듯이,

Dinosaurs into lizards
공룡을 도마뱀으로 만들었듯이'

Then he grabbed up some bolts, he let out a laugh
그러더니 그는 번개를 들고, 웃음을 멈춘 뒤 말했어

Said i'll split them right down the middle
'저들의 중간을 잘라 완전히 분리시키리라,

Gonna cut them right up in half
저들을 반으로 잘라버리리라'

And then storm clouds gathered above into great balls of fire
그리고 폭풍우가 커다란 불의 위로 모여들고

And then fire shot down from the sky in bolts
불은 번개의 안으로 들어가 바닥을 향해 돌진했지

Like shining blades of a knife
칼의 빛나는 칼날처럼

And it ripped right through the flesh
그리고 찢어내버렸지

Of the children of the sun and the moon and the earth
태양과 달과 땅의 아이들을 말이야

And some indian god sewed the wound up to a hole
그리고 어떤 인도의 신이 잘린 곳을 꼬매

Turned it 'round to our bellies to remind us the price we payed
우리가 치른 대가를 기억하게 하기 위해서 배에 자국을 남겼어

And osiris, and the gods of the nile gathered up a big storm

To blow a hurricane

And if we don't behave they'll cut us down again

Looking through data-one eye
하나의 눈으로 보게 될 거야

The last time i saw you we had just split in two
내가 널 봤던 마지막 순간, 우린 그때 막 두 명으로 갈라졌었어

He was looking at me, i was looking at you
그는 날 보고 있었고, 나도 널 보고 있었어

You had a way so familiar i could not recognize
